FT and PT positions
Classification- Non-Exempt
Reports to Dock Manager/ Assistant Manager

Summary/Objective
This position is for an associate to help assist in the receiving of donations, assisting customers, and uplifting volunteers to their fullest potential. Running a cash register (POS) if needed, loss prevention in adherence to all company policy/store standards.

Essential Functions

•Assist donors with their donations from their vehicles to the dock.
•Sort incoming donations to the proper departments.
•Provide excellent customer service to our donors and customers.
•Assist volunteers in their daily goals.
•Run a cash register as needed.
•Lift and carry heavier objects like furniture and boxes for customers and volunteers using the proper help needed or tools provided.
•Focus on keeping a clean and safe work environment.
•Be able to remain on your feet up to 8hours a day
•Ability to bend and lift consistently up to 50 pounds
•Ability to use team lift procedures and provided tools to move items like furniture and appliances up to 200 pounds.
•Be able to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast pace environment.
•Able to work efficiently independently and in a team.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position takes direction from the supervisor on duty. When the supervisor on duty is not available, taking the initiative to lead and direct volunteers is expected.

Work Environment
This job operates on the receiving dock and backroom processing areas. And if needed, in/around the POS register area and helping with our Box Truck donation Pick up service.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items up to 50 pounds. Ability to use team lift procedures and provided tools to move items like furniture and appliances up to 200 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

PT- 9am -6pm 3 days per week, Mon-Sat. Occasional late evening or early mornings may require helping with events.
FT- 9am -6pm 5 days per week, Mon-Sat. Occasional late evening or early mornings may be required to help with events.

Travel
No travel is expected for this position.

Preferred Education and Experience
1. High school diploma or GED
2. 1-3 years of retail &/or receiving dock/warehouse experience

About Hillcrest Platte County (HPC)

We have three large thrift operations that help raise funds for our Hillcrest Platte County transitional housing services that are offered to insecurely housed or homeless young adults-aged 17-23, and families. These services include temporary rent/utility free-living, counseling, life skills training, budget training, and eviction prevention. Paid Internship Summary/Objective

As a Thrift Operations intern, you can expect to gain insight into HPC’s multifaceted non-profit organization. Hands-on experience will include, but not be limited to administrative tasks, operations, marketing, fundraising, volunteer management and recruitment, communications, and special projects.

Expect to answer non-routine correspondence and manage highly confidential and sensitive information. Independent judgment is required to plan and prioritize the diversified workload.

Recommended changes in practices or procedures, in adherence to all company policy and store standards, are welcome.

The Thrift Operations Intern will learn how our Thrift Shops coincide with other HPC divisions and function as part of our overall marketing strategy.
