Hillcrest Community Worship Night at E.H. Young Park
On Friday, August 23rd, Hillcrest Platte County hosted our very first FREE community Worship Night at the E.H. Young Memorial Amphitheater, thanks to the incredible support of our volunteer musicians.
This special event brought together people of all ages for an unforgettable evening of worship. It also served as a wonderful opportunity for those who might not have known about the event to join in. The spontaneous participation of parkgoers added to the experience, allowing even more community members to connect and celebrate together. Throughout the evening, the amphitheater was alive with laughter, conversation, and the joyful faces of friends, families, and new attendees who were drawn in by the uplifting atmosphere.
At 7:00 PM, Donice Mahan, Executive Director of Hillcrest Platte County, took the stage to share a special message. She highlighted the impact HPC is making in the community, raising awareness about our high-accountability housing program and community thrift operations.
The Worship Night truly reflected HPC’s core values as a Christian organization—bringing the community together through our mission rooted in Christ, service, and support for the homeless and those experiencing housing insecurity. Donice emphasized our commitment to restoring dignity and empowering individuals to achieve sustainable independence through our high-accountability housing program.
Set against the scenic backdrop of the Missouri River and accompanied by a gentle summer breeze, the gospel was preached, reminding us of the promise in Romans 10:9: “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” This powerful message prompted attendees to pray over one another in faith, creating an atmosphere of hope and unity.
